What is Christian Counseling?

Christian Counseling helps individuals address emotional, relational, and many other life challenges, through the lens of the Christian faith, incorporating prayer, Scripture, and continuously strengthening your relationship with and seeking direction from the living God. While typically provided in a church setting, my practice offers services in a private setting.

I am gifted in interpreting and teaching Scripture, as well as receiving and relaying Divine guidance for clients and situations. Therefore I will help you understand how to apply Biblical guidance to your challenges and areas of need, and can often provide specific strategies and insights.

In my practice, Christian Counseling is a mix between traditional counseling techniques and life coaching, where we can explore and work to resolve challenges in behavior and mindsets, body, and soul – especially if you feel these are spiritual in nature. However, Christian Counseling can expand into broader areas of life including relationships, finances, identity confusion, grief, and even spiritual oppression. We can cover virtually any issue you may be having!

It is important to note, however, that Christian Counseling is not licensed by NY state and I do not in any way engage in or provide diagnosis, treatment, operation/procedure or prescription for any physical condition or mental/behavioral illness, disorder, or symptom. No services provided represent the practice of licensed medicine, licensed counseling, medical treatment, mental/behavioral healthcare or any type of care or treatment regulated by licensed professions and do not and cannot replace medical or mental health care in a clinical setting.

Our guiding light is the Holy Bible and the living God, represented as a triune Being, in God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. In addition to standard counseling methods, we will integrate prayer and Scripture readings into your care plan, and continually seek God’s guidance. One of our primary goals will always be to build and/or restore your relationship with God and prioritize your spiritual growth, which often begins with the restoration of your emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing. This holistic strategy puts you on a path to discovering and fulfilling your God-given identity, freedom, and purpose-filled life.

How do I get started?

Call 680-323-0455 to schedule your initial consultation.

What happens during the initial consultation?

We have a very informal conversation where I will gather some background information and we will come to an understanding and agreement on your primary areas of need. Often I can share spiritual insights and strategies with you right away, as well as recommendations for your continued healing and growth. If you choose to continue services, we will schedule future meetings and continue to work through those challenges in depth, on a regular basis, until you feel that services are no longer needed.

What happens after the initial consultation?

We will meet regularly and continue to address your areas of need. Your care is self-paced, customizable, and driven by you. Whether we continue services, change direction, or end services is completely up to you.

Are services confidential?

Yes! All services and every conversation we have will be confidential, with a few legal exceptions below. Even if we later incorporate counseling for people you have relationships with, anything we have discussed individually remains confidential, unless you choose to share it.

  • To comply with a legal subpoena or court order.
  • Working with a minor, and need to discuss care and/or concerns with a parental guardian.
  • Information you’ve shared presents a safety risk to yourself or others around you.
  • To report cases of suspected child abuse.

Where are you located?

I currently provide in-person services out of Central New York, and remotely (for any region) via Zoom appointments.
